Confederate Battle FlagInbred pig shaggerPrimitive Relgious RitualChristian Nazi Flag
In the Saturday edition of the Mobile Press-Register (19 January 2008) the following article appears on the front page:Group to fly rebel flag over Interstate 10

Apparently, someone owns land beside I-10 east of Mobile, and this someone has decided, with the help of the local Sons of Confederate Veterans, to erect an 80 foot tall flag pole with 2,000 watt halogen lights, and put the racists Confederate Battle Flag on it. The cost is reported to be around $15,000 - $20,000 and raised mostly through contributions.

Let me state from the outset that this group absolutely has the Constitutional right to do this on private property, and I would defend their right to do it. The government should have no say on its display as long as it is on private property.

Now that I got that out of the way, let me state this:

Those stupid, inbred, racist, cracker, fundy Christian pig shaggers have once again defecated over those of us who happen to live in the South and like to think we live in at least the latter part of the 20th century, if not the 21st century. Is it no coincidence that we see a rise in fundy Christianity, anti science and anti history in the Deep South, which has been anti education ever since the War that defeated the very traitors this flag represents?

What about the people who live near this abomination? Apparently they are in league with this group. If not, they need to speak up or be counted with these degenerates.

Since this flag represents traitors to the Constitution of the United States, why is it even allowed by the citizens to be displayed? It seems to me that the good people who understand what this flag really represents should rise up and take the flag down. The flag is located somewhere in this area, where Boe Road intersects Interstate 10.
Perhaps what is needed is some economic punishment. Perhaps the Senior Bowl, which has been in Mobile for several decades, should relocate because of this. Or the GMAC bowl. Or perhaps ThyssenKrupp and other high-value businesses should move away, lest they become tainted with this filth. Hitting these people in the pocketbook usually gets their attention. Clarence Mohr, professor of history at the University of South Alabama, stated this as well:

There’s no doubt in my mind that the overwhelming majority of Alabamians, black and white, understand that the Civil War is over, and the time has come to move on. If we want to attract businesses like ThyssenKrupp and other businesses, if we want the port of Mobile to realize its full potential, we want to show the positive, not negatives of our history. A giant Confederate battle flag will do little to enhance the state’s image in the eyes of tourists or investors.

I disagree with the first part, however. I don’t think an overwhelming majority have a problem with this. Where’s the outrage? There is still one of these on I-65 between Montgomery and Birmingham. Now we have another. Instead of going away, they are replicating like a malignant cancer. Not just in Alabama, but all over the Deep South.
Until these people learn that those days are long behind us, and their traitorous forefathers were killed and defeated 150 years ago, they should be ridiculed anywhere and everywhere possible, until their corrupt and malicious viewpoint, like fundy religions and creationism, finally becomes extinct.

As long as we have hateful, mean spirited, persons like you that spout lies and more lies we will THE CONFEDERATE BATTLE FLAG WILL FLY! I wish I lived near it and the next time I make my trip from Florida to Louisiana I will be so happy to see it!

  2. Ken Salter says:

You’re damn right I’m hateful - toward a bunch of racist traitors and their followers. No matter what, you support traitors to the Constitution and their institutionalized racism and bigotry. Period.

Now, please point out the lies and more lies.

  3. Shelby S. Harris says:

    I am a proud American!
With great pride and respect for seven family members that lost their lives fighting the War Between the States, I display the Confederate flag on my auto front plate.

  4. Ken Salter says:

Your family members were traitors fighting to keep institutionalized racism and slavery (which includes the killing and rape of the slaves, btw) in place. That’s the cold hard facts. I’m sure you don’t like to hear your family members called traitors. But that’s exactly what they are.

It doesn’t matter if your family members thought they were right or fighting for a good cause, or fighting for God and country. I’m sure some of the Islamic fighters think the same thing. That doesn’t make them right either.

If you are proud to display it, fine. I support your right to display it, just as you should support my right to speak my mind against it. Just know what you are supporting.

And calling it the “War between the States” doesn’t make it sound any better. It was a civil war.

  5. Bill Chambless says:

This posting by Ken Salter is proof of how the “dumbing down of America” has been all too effective. His comments just scream “two digit I.Q.” ! Education will cure this ignorance. Mr. Salter would do well to take his welfare check to the nearest institution of higher learning and invest in an American History course.

  6. Ken Salter says:

An ad hominem argument, also known as argumentum ad hominem (Latin: “argument to the man”, “argument against the man”) consists of replying to an argument or factual claim by attacking or appealing to a characteristic or belief of the person making the argument or claim, rather than by addressing the substance of the argument or producing evidence against the claim. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ad_hominem)

The ad hom attack indicates that you have absolutely nothing to back up what you say. Come back and post something worthwhile and we’ll have a discussion.

  7. Jeb Stuart says:

I’m with you 100% on this, Ken.

  8. Albert Snow says:

Got under you’re skin did we? Well good! If one Confederate Flag makes you this mad how about a dozen more. You see we are not going away and as long as there is even one of us left we will fly the flag of our beloved Confederacy. I got an Idea! Maybe you would be more comfortable in Kenya, or Sudan, or some other hell hole in Africa. I’ll even buy you’re one way ticket!

  9. Ken Salter says:

Ah, we see the typical response from the right-wing part of our body politic. “Love it or Leave it!” Unfortunately for you, sir, I am quite proud to be an American and have no desire to renounce my citizenship. I fight to keep America what the Founding Fathers intended and what the Confederacy was fighting against: freedom and liberty for all the citizens, regardless of race, religion, sexual preference, and other possible discriminators.

As we can see with your post, you are so insecure in your stance than rather attempt any dialog with those that disagree, you’d rather want dissenters to leave the country. On the other hand, I have no wish for that for you or any other supporters of the racist symbol. I’d rather you see the error of your ways, and I will use the legal means at my disposal to see that your position is given the ridicule that it so richly deserves. However, as I have stated before, I would also fight for your right to believe the way you do as long as it does no harm to anyone, and to display the symbol on private land.

Edit: oh and you’re = you are….your = showing possession. Just trying to help.

  10. Hunter James says:

To bad get over it, the flags are not going anywhere!! Ya know if you dont like then turn your head! All things in life cant be like you want them to be.

  11. Ken Salter says:

Same thing you’d say to some people displaying Nazi symbols, right? Or perhaps some artist making a painting of Jesus in urine? Or maybe a black power organization showing symbols of hatred against whitey? Or even when some liberal says something or displays something? Do you voice an opinion? Do wish things were the way you want them to be? I bet you do. We all wish that things we find offensive would go away. It is human nature.

Unfortunately, I agree with you that the flags aren’t going anywhere. And that’s a damn shame. Racism, bigotry, intolerance, ignorance - seems to flourish in the country and especially in the Deep South.

However, I care about this issue, so I will not turn my head. I will speak my mind on it. And I will try to make a change using whatever legal means are afforded me. It is apathy like the type you wish that allows aberrant behavior and mindsets like yours to continue to exist.

I have hope, though. With enough time, world views like yours will slowly die off, like some type of prehistoric mutation where the environment changes and evolutionary forces make you extinct. Your poison will no longer infect others.

  12. sam smith says:

I agree with everything on this page, you know -the atheist websites (I am an atheist) as well as the comments that you posted. Everything, that is, accept for your stance on law. You see, I am a firm believer that any offensive thing that those inbred bigoted abominations present or say is not acceptable. Any such illiberal act as the display of the confederate flag should not, under any circumstances whatsoever, be protected by law. In fact, if any such mediocrity as those abhorrent creatures we call our brethren dare commit such a repugnant act I would support their immediate incarceration and bring upon them the very hellish persecution that they would willingly force on the innocent.

I hate what they are doing with that vile rag that is the confederate flag near where you live. But where I live, recently, two African American men, without the uttering a single word or the twitch of a single muscle, were pulled out of their car and mercilessly beaten by no less than 10 policemen- all of them white. The saddest part of all is… I DON’T EVEN LIVE IN THE F-ING SOUTH!!! It’s a damn shame that bigots hold such a position of power in America today! Why, our own president referred to Barack Obama as a “part-time negro”, as reported by his very intern! Not to mention that 1/3 of US citizens are members of an evangelical church (the ones that condemn gay people)- a new one at least, of which, pops up every month!

You know I love the website, and am applying for via e-mail, but let me also say that my YouTube account name, as I’m sure will come as no shock, is ’samtheliberal’. (’Nuff said).

    PROGRESSIVES UNITE!!!…(online anyway.) /;-)

Everything that needs to said to your comments has been said, especially in regards to your ad hominem attacks.

You are right on one thing; I do not have any respect for defenders of the traitor flag.

    FUCK FUCK FUCKITY FUCK

  17. TexasRebelyell says:

first I would like to say is, Ken, Jeb and Sam, you are all idiots, an you obviously are in need of a history lesson, you breathe on what you where reared to learn about the Rebel Flag, and have no idea what it actually stands for, pity on you!!!
Meatloph, Josephine, Shelby, albert, Bill and Hunter, dont entertain these accusations, they are going nowhere with this, history is on our side!!
First thing, do you really think that a major television network would even approve of a show such as “The Dukes of Hazard” without checking the origin first, Another tid bit of information, Robert E. Lee, freeded all of his slaves so that America would not confuse the ” Civil War ” with the enpowerment of slavery, it was however based on Poll taxes in which the South was very wealthy with products such as tobacco and cotton and the North was not, that the South should pay high taxes of such, and also that President Lincoln kept his slaves along with Grant, and that Lincoln used the freedom of slavery to divert his original plan to take out Robert E. Lee and his Army by passing a law to free slaves while sending 70,000 mercenaries who rebelled against the Flag’s original representation and attempting to make sure it never came about.
Also the KKK, who was erected 1869, Polasksi, Tennessee, by 6 confedarate soldiers was in fact after the civil war and has no bearing of such other than adopting the flag as thier trademark of horror. Oh yeah, and if you have ever seen them in a march they are waving the American Flag and not the Rebel Flag.
I am very proud of the Rebel flag and everything it stands for because I know where it came from, unlike yourself, and where did I get my information, try the Library of Congress in Washington D.C. If you dont believe in that, then you are not an American!!

  18. Ken Salter says:

Forgive will I research your points, it will take time.

First, Lee received 196 slaves from his father-in-law when he died. In the will, it stipulated that Lee would free these slaves withing five years “in such a manner as to my executors may seem most expedient and proper”. (cited from Freeman, Douglas S. (1934), R. E. Lee, A Biography, Charles Scribner’s Sons)

So did Lee really have a choice?

In one incident, three of the slaves escaped. According to an interview of one of the slaves named Wesley Norris: “Norris stated that after they had been captured, and forced to return to Arlington, Lee told them that “he would teach us a lesson we would not soon forget.” According to Norris, Lee then had the three of them tied to posts and whipped by the county constable, with fifty lashes for the men and twenty for Mary Norris (he made no claim that Lee had personally whipped Mary Norris). Norris claimed that Lee then had the overseer rub their lacerated backs with brine.” (cited from Blassingame, John W. (July 1977), Slave Testimony: Two Centuries of Letters, Speeches, Interviews, and Autobiographies, Louisiana State University Press, ISBN 0807102733)

In a letter to his wife in 1856, Lee states: “The blacks are immeasurably better off here than in Africa, morally, socially & physically. The painful discipline they are undergoing, is necessary for their instruction as a race, & I hope will prepare & lead them to better things. How long their subjugation may be necessary is known & ordered by a wise Merciful Providence.” (cited from the Freeman biography)

I will get to your other points as time allows, but your assertion that Lee freed is slaves because of some altruistic reason is not supported by evidence, unless you would care to cite your source for this information that you got from the Library of Congress?

  19. Chris says:

Let me begin this by saying i dont have the intelict you guys have. But im a proud southern boy from Ala. I joined a web site about 3 years ago. My siguinature for my post on this site contained a rebal flag. I used it for 2 years or better. One of the Moderators PM me about it and asked that it be removed cause it might offend others. My point is, it offended me i had to remove it. Im not rascit. I just love my country. Why should i remove it? I look over things ever day. Why is one group more important than another. The bible says were all created equally. I just belive in the flag! I dont suport racescim at all. Why hate on me. I dont hate on you? Go ahead and put me down over my spelling. Go ahead and put me down over what i belive in. I dont care. It wont change my mind. God says your no better than me and im no better than you. I have no idea what happened in those days but what i was taught in school. I wasnt their. Can we all not just get along. No we can not. Someone always belives in their own mind their better than the other. Nothing will ever change that fact.

  20. TexasRebelyell says:

Chris, I understand and appreciated your concern however you are within your rights as an American citizen to exercise your 1st Amendment.
Mr. Salter, I do not appreciate you depicting Robert E. Lee as someone who is not honorable, that’s just not conceivalbe. Let me remind you of the Emancipation Proclaimation acts of 22 Sept 1862 and part 2 Jan 01,1863. The slaves were freed in the north on intentions that they would fight for the Union and help them win the war against the South. However slaves that were kept in some Northern states were not freed until the 13th amendment in which was ratified in Dec 6, 1865. This act was in deed a war measure and the Civil War was based on taxes as I told you earlier and not slavery. Many familiies who had thier sons and husbands fighting and killed during this war would never have them fight over slavery, it was much more than that. And in case you forgot, their were over 65,000 colored confederate soldiers in which over 10,000 were in actual combat. They were given parcels of land to include being free if they fought, in which they did, honorably. A quote by General Robert E. Lee in March of 1864 stated: None will deny that our servants are more worthy of respect than the motley hordes which come against us. Bad faith to black Confederates must be avoided as an indelible dishonor. Now Mr. Salter you can choose to listen and check your history, or you can choose to ignore it and keep arguing, but remember history is on our side!
