They are the ones using religion, politics, and class warfare to divide this country. Adult stem cells from umbilical cord blood saved my granddaughter's life in 2001. A couple of months ago, they were used to save the hands and feet of a Texas college boy who had blood-vessel shut down from meningitis. Every single one of the embryonic humans destroyed since 1998 are still just research fodder. The fact is that the conservative voter is in the majority in Texas. Our Democrats are more conservative than most North East Republicans. We voted, as a State, over 70% in favor of the Constitutional amendment to secure the Defense of Marriage Act. I'm a Family Physician and I teach the medical portion of our local sex ed class - "Worth the Wait" - along with many of my colleagues. The lawyers in town teach the legal consequences of sex outside of marriage. This program is abstinence based, designed by an OB-Gyn who has won awards from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists for the course. We teach about pregnancy and about sexually transmitted diseases, which are treatable and which are not, and we give factual information about vaccines and condoms to prevent disease. It's a shame you feel the need to divide and attack. Some corrections and further information:
