Now that the Florida primaries are complete, Mike Huckabee came in fourth place. This is surprising to me, given all the hoopla with the viral-creationism that is infecting a significant amount of school boards in the state. McCain won first place, and as I showed in my Chart of the Candidates, he is a evolution-non-denier.

So what do we take from this? It seems that the voting arm of the conservatives doesn’t quite match the infestations in the aforementioned school boards. Mike Huckabee is the candidate for the anti-science crowd. McCain would be anathema. However, Huckabee did quite poorly, just above the ignoramus Ron Paul (whose only redeeming quality is his opposition to the “war”).

So perhaps there is some glimmer of hope here. When these school boards come back for re-election, the viral-creationists may not fare as well now that they have outed themselves for the willfully ignorant anti-science cretins that they are. The electorate voted these people in for other reasons, and will now take them out.

It is a dream I have. (apologies to Excalibur)

Oh, and here is another Huckabee video for your entertainment (thanks to Pharyngula):

The Florida Citzens for Science is reporting more county school boards in Florida passing anti-science resolutions. This quote sums it up:

Nassau County Superintendent John Ruis said he is a strong believer in biblical creationism. The theory of evolution has many “holes” in it, he said - and presenting it as undisputed fact “is certainly contrary to the beliefs of many people, including myself.”

These people are a danger to our children, abusing their minds with their tales of mythology pushed as some type of pseudo-science.

Again, if you live in Florida, contact your school board and let them know how you feel. And especially let them know that if they vote against science and against education, that you will vote against them in the next election. Vote these willfully ignorant people out of these positions of power over our children!

Those of us who live in other states: we need to keep a wary eye, as this virus will inevitably seek its way into our lives, poisoning minds and costing us taxpayers tremendous amounts of money to eradicate.

12 counties have now passed anti-science resolutions:

Wait a minute. Did I read that right? Eleven other counties passed anti-evolution resolutions? How in the world did that escape any real public notice until now? I’m only aware of three right now. I can understand a few school boards hiding in the shadows and only attracting the attention of their little weekly newspapers. But 12 total? TWELVE?! And here I was feeling so clever for discovering one by poking around in search engines. I feel silly now.

Please, if you live in Florida, contact your school board and let them know how you feel. These sneaky devils are going to quietly get their dogma imposed on the students, since, like roaches, the light of day causes them problems. Let’s put a condom on America’s Wang!
